Composite door sets made from fibreglass are becoming increasingly popular. Designed to resemble timber, they are manufactured from a mixture of glass fibres and resin and are supplied complete with a steel and PVC reinforced frame. Weather resistant and low maintenance, these doors come in a variety of colours, require no protective treatment and provide a realistic-looking alternative to timber versions. They are also lighter than wooden doors, making them easier to hang, and will not warp or split. Another low maintenance option is PVC. This heavy-duty plastic is still widely used for sliding patio doors, but is less favoured for front doors nowadays due to its relatively flimsy construction and synthetic appearance.
Straight Drop Awnings can be made from acrylic and canvas or PVC clear plastic that does not restrict vision. They provide privacy and controlled light for outdoor decks. Windows, pathways, and entertainment venues need them. A great extent of customization is possible, keeping particular requirements in mind. Awnings would do the job expertly and affordably. The company history and the rich traditions ensure that customers would be deeply satisfied with the services rendered.
There are other options too but regardless of which one you choose there are issues inherent to each. Maintenance is an added factor as is cost. Addition of an external blind does introduce an additional complication in the form of an intrusion into the seamless look of a sliding patio door.
Energy conservation is important so double glazing is recommended. It will also provide some degree of acoustic insulation. Quality manufacturers provide U-values of 1.8w/sqmK or lower for such energy efficient bifold doors. There are times when one may want an unimpeded view and there are times when one may want to shut out the light. Curtains are good but can impede the view. Venetian blinds that roll up all the way to the top may be ideal. If you choose a double glazed door then the blinds may be incorporated into the panels but at the cost of impeding the view. It is best to coordinate with the installer and clear this point as well before ordering a bifold door.
